MEET DR. SCUDERI

Matthew G. Scuderi, M.S. is an active partner with Upstate Orthopedics, Syracuse, New York. He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine, orthopedic and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Scuderi is board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Scuderi prides himself on providing thorough and compassionate care, with great effort put toward shared decision-making with the patient.

Dr. Scuderi is actively involved with team care to Syracuse University Athletics, Cornell University Athletics, as well as numerous regional high schools. He has been a physician to the United States Ski and Snowboard Team, and The Syracuse Chiefs as well.

Dr. Scuderi treats numerous orthopedic conditions related to acute traumatic injuries, as well as chronic degenerative conditions – from simple to complex. He treats all age groups with both operative and non-operative orthopedic approaches.

The types of surgeries commonly performed by Dr. Scuderi include:

  • Total and reverse shoulder replacement
  • Rotator cuff repairs
  • Shoulder stabilization procedures (ie Bankart repair)
  • Elbow stabilization procedures (ie Tommy John repair)
  • Knee ligamentous reconstructions (ie ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL reconstruction)
  • Meniscal repair
  • Knee arthroplasty (ie partial knee replacement)
  • Ankle stabilization reconstructions (ie Brostrom repair)
  • Tendon repairs (ie biceps, hamstring, quadriceps, patella, Achilles)
  • Fracture repairs (ie clavicle, shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle)

Dr. Scuderi remains active with medical education, training physicians, and orthopedic surgeons of the future. He is also actively involved with clinical and biomechanical research which can be found here.
