Arthroscopy
At Upstate Orthopedics, many of our surgeons use arthroscopic surgery to accurately diagnose and repair injuries and problems affecting the joints. Arthroscopic surgery has become one of the most widely used surgical treatments for joint problems and soft tissue injuries.
Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure performed in our ambulatory surgery center. Your surgeon will use a scope with a high-definition camera attached to look inside your joint. Tiny surgical tools can also be attached to the scope to immediately repair any damage the surgeon finds. The scope, camera, and tools are inserted through two or three small incisions.
Compared to open surgery, the benefits of an arthroscopic surgery include:
- Smaller incisions
- Less pain and bleeding
- Less risk of infection
- Shorter recovery times
- Minimal or no scarring
Our orthopedic surgeons can perform arthroscopic surgery on practically any joint in the body:
- Shoulder Arthroscopy
- Elbow Arthroscopy
- Wrist Arthroscopy
- Hip Arthroscopy
- Knee Arthroscopy
- Ankle Arthroscopy
